Simon Wanda

Simon Wanda: Simon Wanda is a Programme Specialist in the Section for Education for Sustainable Development, UNESCO Headquarters. In this role, he serves in the Secretariat of the Greening Education Partnership hosted at UNESCO. He previously supported a 2-year project at UNESCO focussed on the capacity building of teachers in Global Citizenship Education (GCED). Before joining UNESCO, Simon managed various large projects funded by the UK goverment, which focused on education in Africa with a specific focus on transformative pedagogies in Higher Education in Africa, climate change and sustainable development. He has experience in designing, managing, monitoring and evaluating education projects and programmes in partnership with universities, schools and international development agencies. His areas of expertise are online education, education in Africa, education for sustainable development and global citizenship education. Simon holds a master’s degree from the University of Oxford, UK and a first-class honours degree in education, from Kenyatta University, Kenya.

Michael John O’ Mahony

Michael John O’ Mahony is an Honorary Board Member of FEE and the former Director of the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce (the FEE National Operator for Ireland). He has over 20 years national and international experience of FEE Education Programmes particularly in the development, delivery, insight research and impact assessment of the programmes. He has been involved with the development and delivery of the EcoCampus programme in Ireland since 2002.

Júlia Seixas: Júlia Seixas is professor at NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA) in the areas of Remote Sensing in Environment, and Energy and Climate Change. She is an integrated member of the CENSE research unit, on Coordinates the Energy & Climate group, dedicated to R&D towards carbon neutrality: energy systems integrated modelling,asa new energy technologies, new policy instruments, sustainable cities, climate vulnerability and adaptation of energy systems. She serves as a member of the Scientific Committee of the Lisbon University NOVA University Lisbon, Joint PhD Program on Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies. More than 70 publications in international scientific journals. She has coordinated studies to support the national public policy on climate mitigation for more than 20 years. She coordinated the Climate-KIC Hub Portugal from 2016 to 2021. Julia served as President of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at FCT NOVA since March 2017 to June 2022. Currently, she serves as a pro-Rector of NOVA University Lisbon for the area of sustainability.

Arjen Wals

Arjen Wals: Arjen Wals is a Professor of Transformative Learning for Socio-Ecological Sustainability at Wageningen University. He also holds the UNESCO Chair of Social Learning and Sustainable Development. Wals is also a Visiting Professor at Norwegian Life Science University where he supports the development of Whole Schools Approaches & Sustainability. His recent work focusses on transformative social learning in vital coalitions of multiple stakeholders at the interface of science and society. His teaching and research focus on designing learning processes and learning spaces that enable people to contribute meaningfully sustainability.
